The Universidad de Valencia Estudio General (UVEG) is a very old institution created in 1499, which has reached a relevant national and international prestige in the humanistic, technological and scientific areas. Presently, the UVEG is composed of 60,000 members: 55,000 students and 5,000 staff members. The UVEG is one of the most important Universities in Spain, and presently has 19 Faculties offering more than 67 degrees in several disciplines. The UVEG is organised in Centers (Faculties), Departments and Research Institutes.
The Group of Guides and Optical Fibers is a research group of the Universidad de Valencia-Estudio General (UVEG), Spain. The group was officially established in 1985, and is presently composed by 4 UVEG staff: 3 Associate Professors and 1 Assistant Professor, which teach Electromagnetics and Microwaves. The Group is also composed of 3-4 Ph.D. students per year, and about 4-5 final year work students. The main research interests of the group are: Passive Microwave Components, Microwave Photonics, Sensors based on Optical Fibers, and Photonic Crystal Optical Fibers.
